Winter Fruit Salad with Spiced Kombucha Dressing

This winter fruit salad gets me so jazzed because it is delicious, healthy, and BEAUTIFUL! I just think it’s everything a fruit salad should be. Take freedom in using any type of orange (blood orange would be gorgeous!) as well as grapefruit, if you fancy.

T his salad will go wonderfully alongside more decadent dishes as the fresh citrus works as a nice contrast. The dressing is very simple, with some honey and a generous pinch of a few different warming spices. I used a mixture of mandarin, clementines, and navel oranges. Next time, I think I’ll try adding some super thinly sliced kumquats in there, too. Pomegranates sprinkled on top make the platter dazzle while also adding some nice tartness and texture.

I just cannot get over the beauty and aromas this season brings! Fresh citrus and warming spices make my heart swoon!

Winter fruits, pomegranate, and spices for fruit salad

As you’re cutting away the skin from the citrus fruits, you’ll want to follow your eye along where the white pith meets the flesh, to ensure your knife is cutting away the white pith and not too much of the flesh. Here is where it makes a world of difference to use a good, sharp knife!

And here, I have a couple of remixed versions of this salad…

Orange slices with some spices dashed on, mixed up with a dab of honey and a splash of kombucha

Simplified here with roughly cut oranges, and a few dashes of each spice, a splash of kombucha and a dollop of honey. Toss it, and you’re done!

Below, I marinaded the kumquats in the dressing overnight. Unreal, I tell you! Unreal!
